Is everyone happy?

The first time I heard Jets to Brazil was in Little D’s car driving home from a Buckshot show circa ‘98. That was 10 years ago… Geeez.

Blake Schwarzenbach has a new band, here’s videos of them playing at that punk house in Crown Heights called The Fort. Sounds good, poppy like Jawbreaker.

It reminds me of when I lived at the punk house in Santa Cruz and after the Jets to Brazil show my roommate Chas’ friend though it would be funny to start a rumor that Blake was coming to the punk house after the show. There were people hanging at our house but not Blake, and of course groups of young emo kids were outside lurking and trying to play it cool. Chas had to burst their bubble by telling them “Do you guys think Blake Schwarzenbach is coming here, because he’s not” which of course they thought was a trick. But when people left and we went bed the kids outside finally gave up. That dude’s got some diehard fans.

I don’t know anything about this chick, but she shrang heatery booyaka shrang shrang.

Why so serious?

I designed these shirts this summer when they were on tour with Mates of State, and they finally got printed in time for their current tour. First leg was with Margo and the nuclear so and sos, and now they’re finishing up the tour with the bay area band Dredge. Their show at the highline ballroom here in NY was pretty good, plus I got to cypher a few plates full of chicken caesar salad backstage. I don’t eat enough veggies these days ’cause shit’s expensive here. Salad days.

This is one of the funniest Ali G episodes I’ve seen probably. It’s a shame that this kind of stuff can’t happen anymore since everyone knows about Sacha Baron Cohen. Ali G show had some pretty genious writing. I heard an interview with Seth Rogen talking about writing for Ali G and how you have to guess what the guests are gonna say and write different jokes for different possible responses etc. That shit was on some comedy writing 2.0 choose your own adventure style. Excited to see how the Bruno movie turns out, though after the success of borat it’s gotta be that much harder to film anything without people realizing.

Matt Pryor (The Get Up Kids) and Chris Conley (Saves the Day) acoustic show tomorrow night at Bottom of the Hill, SF.

The 2008 US Air Guitar finals was held in San Francisco this beer filled weekend.  The Rockness Monster decided to go next level straight up art steez and a couple of the judges just didn’t get it. The routine didn’t go completely according to plan which also definitely cost him some points, but why so serious? hahaha it’s fuckin air guitar mang!  Congrats to Hot Lixx Hulahan who broke his thumb in the 1st round, but still managed to take the damn cake.  Fucka made a home made splint with duct tape or something and came out in the 2nd round and did a hardcore style front flip stage dive to secure the win.
