therocknessmonster (the All-Star in the unclemurdles collective), took home the LA Regional US Air Guitar Title again. That makes it 3 years in a row! I haven’t been able to find any footage from the show last night, but see below for a link to a review about the show and also a couple YouTube clips of rockness.

Why is it that when you go out drinking with a bunch of people that you always have the random person who doesn’t realize they owe more then they really do? Yes, okay, you drank a lot, you paid a bit, but you never end up paying your share. Shots do not cost $2 in Waikiki, if you order a bunch of them pay for them. Last night went to the Yard House to celebrate a friends birthday, we had two tables, and two tabs. There was probably about 20 of us and we had about a $500 tab. Yet people who did the shots didn’t pay up like they should have, if you order a round of shots for people you pay, you ordered it for everyone, you don’t make them pay for something you ordered, if you can’t afford it don’t order it. Or if you don’t got the cash on you at the moment say so, we’ve all messed up before and gotten drunk and ordered more drinks then we can afford, thats what friends are for. Lucky, I was smart enough and had my own tab, so I didn’t get caught up in that. I saw it coming as there was a bout 20 of us total, and with such a large group it is bound to get all effed up. And it is not like you are screwing over someone random, these are friends you just screwed over, that aint cool. Basically, just letting my thoughts go and moral of the story for you young kids, pay for what you buy. Oh, and when a table leaves untouched food it is okay to eat, you don’t want to waste food.

So everyday on my way to work before I get into the subway I usually grab a copy of The Onion or whatever free rag there happens to be. It keeps me occupied on my 20-minute right to work, I usually skim through pages and ditch it in the trash before I get above ground. Keeps me in the know, ya know? Anywho, yesterday on my way to work I grabbed an Onion and after I was done with it I couldn’t help but notice the newest American Apparel advertisement. (Once you see what I mean you’ll understand why even more.) But anyway it blew my mind how Dov Charney has gone above and beyond to create straight up pornographic print ads and get away with it. I mean I know sex sells and everything but DAMN dude you didn’t need to take it to that level.
The ad is for a new product called the “Tank Thong” I know, let me say it again, The TANK THONG. It’s by far the most overtly sexist use of a woman’s body in a print ad in a long time. Frankly, Dov’s a bastard. I met him numerous times while I worked at the Lower East Side AA Store and he had moved upstairs into a new apartment there. Actually the first day I met him was almost my last day working for AA because I almost walked out. He came in with a dirty bag of laundry and threw it behind the counter. He then asked me to take it to the nearest ‘Fluff ‘N Fold’ for him to get them cleaned. At that point I was red in the face with anger and told him in the nicest way I could that he needed to find someone else to do it. It ended that one of his assistants to it to get cleaned for him.
That’s another story about the assistants. He’d invite girls he met on the street or customers he met in the store up to his apartment and get them to pose for him and his camera. He’d tell them that they’re beautiful and ask them if they’d like to model for AA and become his ‘assistant’. They’d be star struck. Not realizing that every month I was there he had a new ‘assistant’. He would roll up into the store with a new girl in tow quite often. Whichever girl it was that month would end up bossing people around like she was truly in some form of managerial position.
Alright but back to the ad, I just wanted to point out that this particular new ad has to me surpassed all the other skeezy ads AA has produced in the last couple years. It’s reached a whole new level of obscenity. Honestly I feel really bad for the girl featured in this photo. She was probably lied to by Dov and she’s probably very young and naïve and wanted to break into the bizz by ‘modeling’ for AA because it seemed like a cool company. It’s not a cool company, I no longer back them solely based on all the whack stuff I’ve personally witnessed Dov do. I mean yes I still rock the same busted gear I got when I worked there to this day, but that’s mostly because I suck at shopping and at the time it was either half off or free and I only got paid $8 an hour.
Don’t buy from American Apparel, they objectify women in their ads, and Dov’s a soulless, sexist, uber-capitalist, pervy, male chauvinistic bastard.
Oh yeah, here’s the link to the ad; I didn’t feel comfortable putting it in the body of the post because I know a lot of you check this from work. And although this ad is all over the place, I don’t think it’s ‘safe for work’.
hey ya,
i’ve been to eastern europe, and this video refreshed my memory of it.
“Come Baby Come” is the song by K7. This song peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1993.
Me and Reets started singing this out of nowhere after dinner. I swear the 90’s ish is ingrained somewhere deep down. Nostalgia is key.

This is what happens when you’re at work and you type in ‘booze’ into google image search. aww man, the dream.
It was just announced that Black fuckin Moon will be performing at Cream of Beat next week. We still have guestlist spots for this ish. All you have to do is sign up for our e-newsletter and mention “Cream of Beat” in your message. First person to do this gets on the list +1.
